Our philosophy and general information about us:

Please read the following very carefully...

Thank you for inquiring about our Labrador Retrievers.  We breed to produce quality Labrador Retrievers that conform to the breed standard, are intelligent, and have wonderful temperaments and all of our dogs have their health clearances inclusive of their hips, elbows and eyes.  We strive to do all we can to produce physically and mentally sound dogs.

When we have litters, we make sure our puppies are sold only to loving and committed homes. We do our best to screen the owners to ensure a good match between the puppy and the buyer. Before the puppy leaves our home, it has been well cared for and socialized. The puppy does not go to it's new owner as a trained, well-mannered finished product. It is up to the puppy buyer to complete the job we have started. The new owner is responsible for the further development of the puppies personality, through structured discipline, training, guidance, and love. We are involved with Labrador Retriever Rescue. IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY OR IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR A PUPPY, PLEASE ADOPT AN ADULT LAB!!! WE WILL BE HAPPY TO PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH THE APPROPRIATE PEOPLE, WE SOMETIMES HAVE AVAILABLE ADULTS AND RETIRED LABRADORS!!!

All of our puppies are sold on AKC limited registration, which means that our pups are not able to be bred. We also will require you to spay/neuter your puppy & is a requirement in our contract.  If you are an established breeder and wish to show the puppy, special arrangements can be made for show quality puppies.  We attempt to evaluate each puppy’s personality by observing them during their development. We attempt to match the puppy to the buyer to produce the best fit of puppy and family.

OUR PUPPIES/OUR HOME:

Our dogs/puppies are not raised nor housed in any kennels. All of our dogs are born/raised and kept in our home. Puppies are born feet from my bed and are feet from me until they are 3-4 weeks old. They are then moved to our living room. They are exposed to numerous everyday sounds and are very well socialized. We all love and kiss on the puppies every chance we get. Music is played, dishes are done, television is on, vacuuming is done (of course when we have the chance), well you get the idea. Puppies get to play in the kiddie pool, run around with us in the yard, and sometimes they even get to chase the chickens and with supervision the fainting goats!...

We have certain criteria that we deem necessary for the well-being of our puppies. We only place Labrador puppies in apartments or town homes under certain conditions. We would prefer not place our pups in homes without fenced yards unless there is a separate dog run, (invisible fencing is not acceptable). We will discuss, with you, the proper equipment and supplies to obtain prior to bringing your puppy home. We will discuss training, socialization, feeding and care of your puppy to ensure that a Labrador puppy will fit well with your family.

THE BREED The Labrador Retriever takes two-three years to mature mentally and physically. The Lab is also keenly intelligent, thriving on stimulation and socialization and has a high 'pack drive.' Successful ownership requires 'building time' into your schedule to include your dog in activities, and the training and exercise he requires. These are not self-socializing dogs. Owning a dog is a lifetime commitment, and in the case of the Lab this can be 10-15 years.

YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND HOME Labradors require a clear idea of 'pack structure' and order. Humans must be the clear leaders (you must be the alpha dog) and a successful adjustment and relationship with all people regularly in contact with your dog is essential. Also, a fenced yard is an important safeguard for your dog while outside with you. The purchase price of your dog is just the beginning. Dogs require annual vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spaying or neutering, quality food, boarding in your absence, training, toys, crates etc. You don't need to own a home in the suburbs to be the ideal Lab owner. However, you do need to be realistic about the costs involved in pet ownership and OH YES the hairballs that will accumulate in your home as a result of owning a Lab!

THE BREEDER Responsible breeders feel they have a lifetime commitment to each dog they are responsible for bringing into the world. Most require all sales to be by written contract, with the rights and obligations of both parties spelled out. A contract is in essence a 'memorandum of agreement' about the conditions and terms of sale spelled out. If you have questions about the wording or have a concern you would like addressed in a contract, the time to discuss it is BEFORE YOU SIGN.  OUR CONTRACT IS A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT!

Our deposits are $500 and are NON-REFUNDABLE.  If you place a deposit on a particular color/sex prior to a litter being born and that color/sex is not born you are able to switch that deposit over to the next available comparable litter, however the deposit is NOT refundable.  Please be open to a different sex/color as I myself have been set on a particular color and sex and then I totally fell in love with another baby. Please be open minded!

We reserve the right to deny placement of any our of Labradors, if we have deemed your family unfit.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES THERE ARE CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL AND SOMETIMES THE NEW FAMILY CAN NO LONGER KEEP THEIR PUPPY.

WE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT ALLOW ANY OF OUR PUPPIES NOR OUR ADULTS TO BE SURRENDERED TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER, SOLD OR PLACED WITH ANYONE ELSE. THESE LABRADORS ARE OUR LIVES AND WE ARE THEIR SECOND FAMILY (AFTER THEY ARE ADOPTED TO THEIR NEW FAMILY). IF A FAMILY CAN NO LONGER KEEP THEIR LABRADOR, WE MUST BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY!!
